Social Media Research

A Program by the Sword of Orion Writing Team!

One of the most common ways to interact with a large, world-wide audience is through social media. There are many sites for many different niches, and on these sites, people are constantly receiving and putting our new information and content. On one hand, it is the best place to direct people to the right causes, but on the other, it is difficult to grab the attention of your audience without a careful and calculated approach to posting.

The Social Media Research group is designed to research and determine the 'how' and 'what' of social media.

We have to discover "how" to get people's attention, and "what" we should tell them. For the first question, the answer is through strategic and consistent posting, and for the second, it is a matter of keeping in touch with current issues and a network of allies and important accounts. If we know that we are incapable of helping a crisis somewhere in the globe, we can figure out how to communicate its urgency to the people, and who we can support that is able to help. The importance of social media is not simply for our own gain or popularity, but to build a platform that helps others fighting for a better future.

You will be brought to a Google Form with a short application. This is mandatory for all members, but if you want to become a member of the Writing Team specifically, specify it on the "Which team?" question. Towards the bottom, you will come to this question, where you can specify which program you would like to sign up for, and in this case, check the Social Media Research box.

Step 5:

After submitting your form, an admin will review it and assign you the relevant roles on the Forum, and from here, you can go into the Writing Team board, and view the pinned thread titled "Social Media Research | ACCESS". Here, there will be further instructions and a link to join our Slack channel, where you and other members can share your ideas and collaborate on research into topics and events for social media to cover.
